Maybe it is because of the Pandemic, or just Instagram’s Strategy, the latest social media network giant is turning into an e-commerce hot-spot destination. A location that would make it easier for brands, businesses, and creators to finance their living.

That’s why many businesses and individuals want to have an IG account to earn money. Your Instagram Shop Feature 

To start-up your Instagram Shop, you would first have to activate your account’s feature through these short steps. 

Step 1: Eligibility

The First Step to creating your Instagram Shop is to analyze your eligibility as a Seller. You would only be eligible if you tick all the following criteria. 

  1. You own a business located in a supported market. 
  2. Your company has an eligible product that would need a display platform. 
  3. Your business respects and obeys Instagram’s Merchant Agreement and Commerce Policies mention in Terms of Service. 
  4. You own a suitable Brand and Website Domain which you could use to sell your Products. 

Step 2: Account Type

To have your Instagram Shop, you would need to have the right account type. To have the shop feature, you would need to convert to a Business or a Creator Instagram Account. 

This account conversion would only take a few short steps. Once done, you would enter; your relevant business information, opening hours, physical address, contact numbers, and Website Links. 

This Instagram Account Conversion qualifies you for gaining access to the Shop Feature on Instagram. 

Step 3: Link Instagram and Facebook

Now you would need to link and connect your Business Instagram Account with your Facebook Page. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your business’s Instagram Account.
  2. Go to your Profile Page Screen 
  3. Select “Edit Profile” located right after your Instagram Bio. 
  4. Under the “Public Business Information” section, select “Page.”
  5. Then Choose your Business Facebook Page that is related to your Instagram Account. 
  6. If you do not have a Facebook Page, Select “Create a New Facebook Page.”

Note: You would not need a Facebook Shop Page; a standard Business Facebook Page would suffice. 

Step 4: Product Index 

To initiate your Instagram Shop Feature, you would need to upload your product catalogue. Powered through your Product Index Instagram Shopping would need to connect to your Instagram Business Account; you would have to either use:

  • Catalogue Manager 

The Catalogue Manager is a do it yourself method that is found within the Facebook Business Manager. 

Or

  • E-Commerce Platform Partner

The E-Commerce Partner Platform integrates your profile with certified e-commerce platform partners like; Shopify or BigCommerce

Step 5: Review Your Account 

After you have connected a product catalogue to your Instagram Business Account and have listed your products, you can submit your account for a review. Reviews typically take a few days but may take longer depending on your work, catalogue, and business. 

To Submit your Instagram Account for review:

  1. Log in and go to your Business’s Instagram Profile Page, 
  2. Tap on the Three Horizontal Lines on the Top Right-Hand corner of your profile page.
  3. Select “Setting” at the bottom of the Profile Menu
  4. Sign Up for Shopping
  5. Follow the steps one by one to initiate your account review,
  6. You may visit “Shopping” in your profile “Settings” to check your review status.

Some accounts may get a notification for necessary additional information to prove your business’s ownership and domain. If you receive a message for more information, you would just have to follow the steps provided to finalize your verification process and account review. 

Step 6: Enable Shopping

Upon your account getting approval, you may turn on the “Instagram Shopping Feature.”  Do note that if this is not available to you, then it would mean that your account is still under review and being approved for the Instagram Shopping Feature. 

To turn on and activate your shopping features:

  1. Go to your Profile Page.
  2. Tap on the three horizontal lines at the top corner of your profile page. 
  3. Select “Setting” at the bottom of the Profile Menu
  4. Select “Business” and then tap “Shopping,”
  5. Find the “Product Catalogue” that you would want to connect to your account. 
  6. Click “Done”

Step 7: Actionable Shopping Tags

Now that you’ve activated the Shopping experience on your Instagram, you can start using shop tags to highlight different products in your photos and videos; posted across your profile feed and stories.

To enter your shopping tags in posts, you would first have to upload a photo through the standard procedure, then right before posting it on your feed; you would have to take the following steps:

  1. Select “Add Photo”
  2. Add Your Caption
  3. Select on “Tag Products”
  4. Tap on your Photo,
  5. Search for the Products you would want to Tag
  6. Select the Product 
  7. Click “Done”
  8. Then “Share”

Note: You may choose several Tags and products for every single image, video, or post. 

Stickers for Shopping Features in Instagram Stories

Once you have chosen an image for your Instagram Story, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Sticker icon on the top right corner. 
  2. Select the Product Sticker from the Sticker Tray.
  3. Choose the Product you want to feature from your Catalogue. 
  4. Move the Product Sticker to the designated area. 
  5. Change or Edit the Text Color by tapping on the Product Sticker.
  6. Finalize Changes.
  7. Share your Story
